Obama the Friendless
This story from The Washington Post caught my attention. Remember, Obama campaigned as the guy who would end our global isolation under Bush and forge close relationships with international leaders. Now it turns out that in one year Obama has managed to snub virtually all of the U.S.'s key allies around the world and can barely point to a single significant foreign leader with whom he has a close working relationship -- in contrast to President Bush who had strong relationships with many key foreign leaders. This failure can be clearly seen in Obama's woeful inability to get support and cooperation for his agenda from countries as diverse as China, France, Israel, Russia, Afghanistan, and Japan, as well as his utter failure to make any headway in dealing with Iran. Thanks to President Obama, our allies are suspicious and distant (England, France, Germany, Israel, Japan), our competitors are uncooperative (Russia, China), and our enemies are defiant and fearless (Iran, North Korea, Islamic terrorists). Once again, Obama delivers on his promise of change by making things worse.
