The Washington Post Gets It Right Again!
Here's another great opinion piece by a left-wing Washington Post columnist. I rarely agree with Richard Cohen, but in this article he does a great job of explaining why Obama's naive national security policy is putting Americans in danger. From the handling of the Christmas Day bomber to the civilian trial for KSM to the closing of Guantanamo, this administration has been persistantly showing an unwillingness to stand up to radical Islamic terrorism. As bad as Obama's domestic policy has been, I think his prosecution of the "War on Terror" is even more dangerous for our country.

Let me begin by saying that 9/11 occurred under the George Bush administration so I am guessing that his administration dropped the ball or maybe not. That is another discussion for another day. I don't support terrorism and terrorists but at the same time I do believe in human rights. If we torture and waterboard terrorists, then are we any better than the terrorists we are trying to capture? Who gives us this divine right to do as we are please with another human? Nate, I guess you subscribe to "an eye for an eye" belief. Why don't we just drop an atomic bomb on Pakistan, Iraq and Iran to end it once and for all? I am not saying that terrorists should be cuddled but adopting these attitudes and actions is not helping the situation. We all know that terrorists hate the US and their Western standards but we are just adding fuel to fire. Terrorists have such an easier task to recruit soliders to their cause by showing recruits how the US is treating their Islamic brothers. Richard Cohen even points this out in the article. He said "No doubt George Bush soiled America's image abroad with what looked liked vigilante justice and Dick Cheney's hearty endorsement of ugly interrogation measures." I am tired of hearing the Obama administration is not doing enough. Will there ever be a point where you will be pleased that Obama is doing enough and quit this blog? I think not. After the Detroit attack failed, Obama was very angry that the intelligence was not handled properly. He is even planning to order more sophisticated equipment such as full body scanners for the major airports. The problem is terrorists will always try to find a loophole in the airport security system. First it was liquids in small containers, then it was shoes or now recently it was underwear. Personally, I don't feel the administration is sleeping on the job.
So ordering full body scanning equipment at airports is sleeping on the job? Getting angry that the Detroit attack could have been avoided sleeping on the job? Read the 9/11 commission report and get back to me. It is 585 pages long so take your time.
